Tucson Scorpion Control

Tucson News Now

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) –

The warm weather is bringing some unwanted guests to homes across southern Arizona.

Scorpions are crawling inside homes and in garages looking for a cool place to hang out. According to the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, when it is hot outside, scorpions are looking for a place to ‘chill’.

The folks at the poison center have already been receiving calls about scorpions. Just take a look at the numbers for February over the last few years:

  • February 2016 – 70 calls
  • February 2015 – 66 calls
  • February 2014 – 95 calls
  • February 2013 – 65 calls

Over the last five years for the poison center, 2014 was a biggest year for calls about scorpion stings. But this year, there could be even more calls.

  • 2016 – 123 calls (so far)
  • 2015 – 115 calls
  • 2014 – 158 calls
  • 2013 – 118 calls
  • 2012 – 149 calls
