While frequenting the highly acclaimed pest cemetery blog I came across a very interesting post. The post highlights some of the bizarre pest related laws that exist in our society today. Some of the laws are obviously out dated and not fully enforced (at least I would hope so). Check out some of the laws below and see the full article for more ridiculous pest laws.
- In California you may not set a mouse trap without a hunting license.
- Los Angeles law forbids hunting moths under a street light.
- Molesting butterflies can result in a $500 fine.
- It is illegal to mistreat rats in Denver.
- Florida law forbids rats to leave the ships docked in Tampa Bay.
- Galesburg: There is a $1,000 dollar fine for beating rats with baseball bats.
- Minnesotans are forbidden from teasing skunks.
- According to Ohio law, it’s against the law to kill a housefly within 160 feet of a church without a license.
